Gourmet hot chocolate to warm the soul

Sweet escape

Located along Calgary’s trendy 17th Avenue, MARKET restaurant has garnered a lot of attention for its stunning entrees and delicious desserts. Among the latest creations to be added to the menu is the MARKET Custard Hot Chocolate. Pastry chef Daniel Ramon’s variation on the cocoa classic is neither short on flavour nor on complexity. Made with a blend of custard, cream and velvety Valrhona Coeur de Guanaja chocolate, this sweet, thick concoction is infused with rosemary and topped with homemade cinnamon marshmallow, which is roasted (by blow torch) right at your table. Makes the generic coffee-chain H.C. seem, well, pretty generic.

Truffle Treasures

One of Ottawa’s go-to hot chocolate destinations. From hazelnut to pumpkin spice, there’s a flavour for everyone, but try the Ginger and Orange Hot Chocolate for a warm, citrusy contrast to the chilly weather.

Secret Location

Head to Secret Location in Vancouver's Gastown for an “Under the Mistletoe.” Made with smooth Valrhona Alpaco chocolate, this seasonal sip is topped with cinnamon caramel foam, sour cherry marshmallows and chocolate garnish.
